On Twitter, sometimes 280 characters simply isn’t enough, despite all the new features like GIFs, photos, videos, etc. That’s why the popular social media channel announced they will be testing a new feature that allows users to share their voices in a tweet.

How can I send voice messages on Twitter?

To start, tap the new icon that looks like wavelengths. You’ll see your profile picture and the ‘record’ button below. Tap that and start recording!

Every voice tweet has a maximum length of 140 seconds. If you reach the limit for a tweet, a new one will start immediately to create a thread. Once you’re done, tap the “Done” button to stop recording.

People will see your voice tweet in their timeline alongside other tweets. To reproduce them, just tap the image.

How can I get the new Twitter update?

Voice tweets will be available for a small group of iOS users on Twitter to start with. In the following weeks, everyone with an iOS device should be able to use voice tweets. Soon after, all users on this social media channel will be able to see, listen to and reply to voice tweets.
